Is there a family calender?

OK, I am trying to figure out if there is. I have read some threads that indicate that their might be, but others that say there isn't one.
I want to try MOBILE ME because we have two macbooks, two iphones, and about 6 ipods in the family. However, I really really want there to be a family calender that we can all update. Thanks!

I know this would be cool, I can't for the life of me figure out why we can't have this on a Mac.......

to get it so my wife could update my calendar, i just set up my account on her computer, since she didnt need email or anything like that it was no big deal. She just updates our appointments.

You can sync all the Macs/iPhones to the same MobileMe account, then create a calendar named "family" and it will show up and be editable on all the devices, but you can't (as far as I know) sync a calendar across multiple accounts (or sub-accounts) and have it be editable by everyone.

The other thing you could do would be to publish the calendar and have everyone subscribe to it, then when someone other than yourself wants to add an event, they could send you a event invite, which would show up on the "Family" calendar if you set it up a your main/default calendar.

This is a good suggestion. Wondering if anyone has tried this. I don't understand why apple has not already made this a feature where you can have one calendar for a family and each one can add items to it and it pushes it to all the devices.

After 5 years, I've finally given up on using mobileme to sync my calenders. I need to share my son's calender with his father, and want him to be able to edit and add events. I finally got Spanning Sync, which allows 2-way synching between iCal and Google calenders. I just created a Google calender, invited my ex and gave him editing rights, and set up the two calenders to sync with each other.

So far, it seems to work fine.

My husband and I share a "family calendar" on MobileMe. It is set up as IgnatiusTheKing has suggested in his first paragraph and it works perfectly.

I have a MobileMe account that I use for calendar as well as e-mail, contacts, photo gallery, etc that I sync between my MBP and iPhone. My husband has a MB and iPhone so on his two devices we set up my MobileMe account for calendar access only. Both of us can edit the calendar on our phones or computers and it syncs all 4 of our devices automatically. It's worked great for us.

I sincerely hope a sort of family calendar gets updated into mobileme. There are too many friends and family members that I need to stay sync-ed with for endless invites or users sharing one login...

Why use Spanning Sync instead of just setting up CalDAV in iCal with your Google account?

I read info about both, and it seemed that Spanning Sync would be easier. I realise CalDAV is free, but a one-time cost of 65 dollars as opposed to mobilme's high yearly fee seemed like no big deal.

ARRGGG!!! I just spent several hours last night trying to get subscribed calendars to sync with my and my wife's iPhones via MM only to finally realize it doesn't work. (yeah my bad) It is pathetic enough that a F'n FAMILY MM SUB doesn't support this rudimentary functionality out of the box!!!!
