and also, can someone confirm how long max. can a ringtone be?

EDIT:
1) yes all of them are .m4r or else they wouldnt be listed under the Ringtone Playlist...
2) yes I have always selected 'All Ringtones'

i made them myselfs and all the ones i have are under 40 seconds...its the remaining 5 i wanna sync are as well under 40 seconds but i do not know why they arent being put onto the iPhone 3G S...but it is listed on the Ringtone playlist.

They have to be .m4r and this is a silly question, but do you have "sync all ringtones" swlected? If your choosing them indivually, make sure they're checked and sync again.

so i guess the limit is 40 ring tones? i really don't see how anyone can find out unless they just convert all there music into ring tones. i barley have 3 custom ring tones that i use regularly

No, the previous poster means do they all have the check mark next to them in the ringtone list? Not on the iphone section, on the itunes section they need to be all checked. otherwise they will not sync even if you select "Select all ringtones"
Sincerely,

oh yes everything is checked!

You probably already know this...

Did you make sure to remove them from the 'music' section playlist? If you don't do this, they won't sync right.

I have had the same problem and found the solution.... if the file is over .31 seconds long it will not work

nope mine are all 40 seconds...whats the max anyone confirm?

I read somewhere that it was 45 seconds, but I always use 30 seconds for mine, so I can't confirm that. Anyway, why would you need anything longer than 30 seconds? Especially 40 seconds? You should've answered the phone by then, and they just take up extra space for no reason.

lol dear, extra 10 seconds isnt gonna hurt on a 32gb

So, are you still having problems getting all your ringtones on the iPhone? I would think there'd be no limit to the amount of ringtones, but I'd be interested to know if there IS actually a limit.

no like i said there is a bug in 3.0 O.S; APPLE, but to fix it, you just rename/edit the song on Ringtone Playlist and sync!

as to limit, I really doubt it!
