I was in a sunny spot today with mu touch (good screen) and noticed a small black circle 1.5-2 mm diamiter in the upper left corner of the touch. It is only visible in bright light. Can anyone tell me what this is?

I'm guessing it's just the sensor used to automatically control the screen brightness depending on the environment lighting conditions.

That's good thinking, that's most likely what it is. Does the screen brightness change if you put your finger over it?

ok maybe a silly question, but if you're noticing no change in screen brightness when you cover it, is the auto-screen brightness option switched on?

    Same.

    Probably a software issue.

These iPods have a buttload of software glitches and one major hardware glitch (The screen).
