i am about to buy a link bracelet off CL for $400, which is a pretty good imo but I'm worried it might be fake. Is there a serial number anywhere at all on the watch that I can look for? Or are all link bracelets the same? Like identical, with no serial id attached?

Nobody has managed to produce a realistic fake or they'd be selling them in droves as third party bands so you have little to worry about. A fake will be obvious.

Dishonest Chinese sellers who advertise using Apple's official photos and even send you photos taken of the real thing claiming it's what you'll get don't count.

I just ended up buying it from apple just to be safe. $500 is a lot, but hopefully I can sell this for $350 or so in two years

It's interesting that I continually see the British complain about the Apple price differential on one hand, and tout their imperious "Consumer laws" on the other. You are paying for those laws.

:p
