Is there a specific time we should expect Apple Reservation System to go live?

I don't think they are opening up that for the US this time... At least not as yet

I just placed an order for pickup in the US today. Cancelled my pre-order from T-Mobile. Seems like there is plenty of stock.

Not in U.S. You can only check via apple.com and see if they have one in stock then you pay and reserve. I believe Apple clearly stated that they aren't doing a Reservation system for the U.S (Meaning Reserve first then pay at store).

You certainly can check istocknow.com or apple.com and if it still shows "Pick Up: Today" you certainly could walk in to the store and get one.
