Correct me if I'm wrong but most of the "problems" with the Vertex 3 were related to not being able to update firmware and sluggishness (Potential freezing) that was fixed in a later update?

I am 90% sure you wil find that SandForce SSDs will not do you wrong.

the problem is not very widespread, but the solution decreased performance

No one seems to be voting for the Apple SSD. I'm thinking of getting a 13" with the Apple SSD since it's only $225 (with education discount) and that's about the price I would pay aftermarket for 128gb anyway. Let Apple take the risks of putting it in, plus one less warranty headache.

Any comments on Apple vs Samsung? Or, could the Apple be a Samsung?

You are correct, the Apple OEM SSD is an attractive choice. The speed is the same as the Samsung and you have the benefit of native TRIM (without a hack). If the money is close, the Apple SSD is a good choice.

Go with OWC, No issues on my MBP 2011, excellent customer support and warranty. AND FASSSSSTTTT:cool:

since the issues with Vertex 3's are with the controller, OWC should experience the same problem
I don't have any issues on my MBP 13", Not on SL or Lion. No beach balls, etc.

It only give me problems with the Trim enable patch, but after uninstalling everything went back to normal.

Crucial M4.... EOD! Love it's speed.

The OEMs don't always use the same version of the firmware. OCZ also used to customize their firmware a bit more than other OEMs. That practice might have stopped when they moved to Sandforce though.
