I was wondering if there is a water sensor like the one in the headphone jack in the USB hub port. I heard from someone there is one, but looked and dont see one. Is this true?

No. There is no water sensor in the iPhone. The iPhone has been opened up several times and nothing like that was found.

You're absolutely wrong in every sense of the word, but... okay?

You don't even need to open the thing.

Exactly. In fact, all the Apple Store employees do is shine a light down the headphone jack to see if the strip changed color due to water, moisture, or humidity.

Threads like the one below and lots of other would seem to contradict Jashsayani!

Isn't it a small patch up inside the dock connector; you have to be at the right angle to see it? There're pictures in this thread:

I don't know if there are others inside the iPhone though and I'm not in any hurry to find out by experience!

You could always try shining a torch into all the nooks and crannies to see if anything looks red! Glad to hear your iPhone is fine and survived its dip.

the sensor is indeed in the dock connector as well, if you shine a light under the 30 pin dock connector, in the middle is a oval hole in where the indicator lies, shine it in the right light and you will either see white, or pink..

If you have ever taken a damaged iPhone into a genius bar, they shine a light in the bottom of the phone, I think its in the 30 pin connector for charging.
