I can't seem to find a way of searching by user in the Youtube inferace on the iPod Touch... I tried going into Safari and then seeing if users' Youtube pages would autolaunch the videos in the Youtube app but it simply brought up the Youtube page for the relevant video with the broken flash hole instead of the video (as an aside these were videos which were in H.264 because I was able to search them by title in the Youtube app and they worked even though they wouldn't link from Safari).

Is there a way to search by user? The info page after the video plays has the username highlighted but won't link to anything but the video itself (not a list)...

Or am I missing something?

You can't. All you can do is search for videos and it brings up a random list of videos. I wish they could be sorted by date as well.

Just type in the user name of who ever's videos you want to find.

That doesn't work either though- with one particular user I searched for, putting in their name only brought back two of their videos. Others were there if I searched for them by name so it's not because they weren't formatted for iPod.

It's an oversight. A huge one.

It's an excellent idea, and I can't see how hard it would be for Apple and Google to incorporate this option, onto the 'search' section on youtube.app

Imagine it. Click the bar to search, and just like the 'Set as Wallpaper' type menus, one pops up from the bottom with an option to change the search to search 'By Username'. Easy.

Send the idea to Apple! - http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
