Is there a way to check if an online store is legit?

I've don'e a lot of online shopping, and I'm always cautious where I buy stuff. I've definitely bought from sites that look a bit shady but still went through, and I've never had a problem. If I see a site that raises to many red flags, I stay away.

So is there a site, that shows that they are a legit business and no some scam?

Are you familiar with resellerratings.com? I usually look there if I haven't purchased from a place before.

You can also use http://whois-server.net/ to look up the site owner's info and see that it matches what you'd expect.

Like ct2k7 said, look for https and a green bar, but I'm sure the websites that tobefirst and killerrobot wouldn't hurt.

When in doubt I always call, if they try to hide the phone number I'm already a bit suspicious.
