I am receiving a new iPhone today and while I know this sounds like a strange request, I noticed it went through an area that was heavily flooded during the hurricane.

If there’s box got wet or was exposed to any flooding waters, would there be anything to look out for?

Obviously the card box would dry and now that iPhones don’t have a Sim Card area to check the wet indicator, I have no idea how to make sure this thing wasn’t exposed to water.

I’m sure it’s fine, but wanted to see if anyone had any advice or specifics to look for.

Yes the Apple box would still be wet or moist there was water intrusion. You should expect to see water damage to the paper inserts you iPhone box. The 2 Green pull tabs to open your Apple box would be damaged.

Oxidation of contacts. Divorces on the housing. If not, look at LCI, Liquid Contact Indicators. Indicator should change color (basic color-gray or white), when exposed to water, moisture, steam, the indicator changes its color to pink, red, if you have a version with a tray for sim-card. Or look in the socket where the charger is plugged in. If the indicator does not change color, you should not worry - it is sensitive
