is there a way to exclude Apple Maps from using dark mode when the rest of the phone is in dark mode?

when Apple Maps is in dark mode, it's basically unusable because the maps is nearly impossible to see..

To my knowledge, there is not a way to customize dark mode on an individual app basis.

The only suggestion I have would be to add the dark mode toggle button to your control center so that when you open Apple Maps, you can quickly swipe up or down depending on the phone you have and toggle dark mode on or off.

Bumping this (I hope that's ok) in case there's been any new discoveries or changes since Oct. 2020. This drives me crazy. (The latest Outlook for iPhone has a great dark/light toggle on-screen, available per message. Would love the option in Maps, or an ability to exclude Maps from Dark Mode entirely.)

You can put a Dark Mode toggle in Control Center. Then switching Dark/Light is super fast.

how many people end up using Google Maps because Apple engineers can't figure out how to correct this "problem"? (Google Maps app has it's on dark mode on/off toggle and it only affects Google Maps itself, regardless of the iPhone's darkness setting)
