in Launchpad? I can launch my apps perfectly in Launchpad, I don't need the Dock to be popping up in Launchpad as well. Anyone?

I think you are new, but if not go to your dock and you see that border between the trash can and applications, right click it and it will have options and click go to dock pref, and then there go and click automatically hid the dock, its a checkmark on the bottom

No I'm not that new.. but anyway, I do already have the Dock to 'Automatically Show and Hide' checkbox ticked and it works fine when I'm in Finder or doing normal stuff.

My question was, whenever I open up Launchpad, the Dock seems to pop up together with it, and I don't want the Dock to pop up with Launchpad. Does this make sense?

A bit picky, don't you think, considering the Dock comes up when you open Launchpad and goes back down after you close it. Same with Mission Control.

I suggest you just live with it, and don't think there is any way to disable it without disabling the Dock completely.

Yes I am picky! Because why would I need the Dock when I'm already in Launchpad mode? That doesn't make sense to me. It's like having 2 things which are the same appear side by side when I only need 1. But after Googling, I think I've come to realize that there is no way for things to work the way I want them too. So yes, like you said, I'm going to have to live with it for now.

I hope in the next versions of Yosemite, Apple will give us the option to disable the Dock completely, just like the Dashboard. Or they should just take it away entirely. Launchpad and Spotlight launch apps pretty efficiently already. We don't need a third.

I open most apps from the dock and only open launchpad occasionally for a few apps that aren't on the dock. Choices are good. :D

First world problem. Perhaps save your angst for something you have none of, not two?

Seriously, its because in Launchpad you are there presumably to launch an App, so the Dock helpfully shows itself <just in case> it is giving you a shortcut, it probably doesn't think it is shortening your life by doing so.

There isn't one. As of now that's just the way it is.
