Is there a way to keep photos in my photostream but take them off my iPad

Hi all,

I have a 16gb iPad 2 that is getting pretty full, I have a bunch of photos that I added to it directly from my camera a while ago and they are taking up a ton of space.

Is there anyway that I can delete them from the device but keep them in icloud to save space?
