Is there a way to replace the "new tab" button in Firefox?

Huh? I don't understand your question. Are you asking for the keyboard shortcut. It's Command-T. Control-T in Windows and Linux.

No, I mean like the actual button you press to open a new tab. Like change the image, the look of it. I want to make it the same as the Safari one.

Is the new tab button in Safari 3 but not 2?

Anyway I found a Safari theme to use in Firefox. iSafari

I remember seeing a theme editor for Firefox at some point but can't seem to find it now.

    Hope that helps.

I'm not sure if it's new in Safari, but it looks just like a plus sign.

There is a Safari styled new tab button with a plus. Not the same as bookmark though. Actually, iSafari doesn't even have the bookmark plus icon.

There's also a similar theme called iFox in many varieties.

Yeah, I know of iFox, but it's not the same image.
