In mission control, I have to put my cursor on the upper side to look at what's in the desktops and then select one of them.

Is there a way for you to look at them without having your cursor on it so you can select a desktop right away instead of waiting it to appear?

You have to move the mouse up there to select one anyway, right? I have the top-left corner of my monitor set up as a "hot corner" for mission control. As the cursor is already at the top (as that's how the hot corner itself is activated), the list of screens/desktops appears with them all open.

You could ctrl-1 ctrl-2 etc to go through each desktop, and just stop when you've found one you like.

From the keyboard, F4 opens the Spaces bar in Mission Control...alternately, so does Control + Up Arrow. One can cycle between spaces using Control + Left or Right Arrow. The Control +1, etc. has apparently been eliminated (does not work in my Mojave) and is not mentioned here...

Use Mission Control on your Mac - Apple Support:

...though it apparently worked in earlier version of MacOS/OSX as stated here (#3) back in 2013...

Mac tip: Five useful keyboard shortcuts for Mission Control - CNET:

Hope that helps! :)

Wow, why would they want to do that? It's so convenient.

Are you still using High Sierra?

I'm using Catalina 10.15.3.

I often make little changes then forget I've made them :) In System Prefs / Keyboard / Shortcuts, I've configured ctrl-n to open the relevant desktop.

Could you check if it's still configurable as other user said?:

Well, lookee that! I just checked and adrianlondon's linked info is correct and also works in Mojave!

For whatever odd reason, Apple had those "Option + number" Mission Control/Spaces Keyboard Shortcuts in System Preferences>Keyboard>Mission Control>Shortcuts (Tab) defaulted as Unchecked (turned off) on my new i9 iMac/Mojave?!

Interesting feature+caveat here...when creating/adding a New Space (Desktop) a new "Option + number" Key Command for that Space will appear in the Mission Control Shortcut pane...however, that new "Option + number" shortcut will be defaulted Unchecked (off) requiring one to manually Check (turn on) that Space's Key Command.

Anyhoo, they're all turned on now and work as advertised! Ha! Thank you adrianlondon! :)
