My 2014 13'' MBP Pro is running Big Sur. So far everything is still working pretty smoothly, except that when I connect the MBP to a large 27'' display, the size of the font in the Mail app is so small that it becomes a pain to read email content in such small fonts. I know I can use CMD+/- to adjust the zoom level. Let's say I increase the zoom level when I read the current email, when I switch to the next email, the zoom level is reset.


For browsers like chrome or firefox, there is always an option to specify a default zoom level for every page. Is there a similar option for mac's Mail app?

No, there is not. And there likely never will be. And I feel your pain because I have a 34" 5K display and moderate-at-best eyesight.

Apple has locked down Mail and Safari with regard to extensions and add-ons. Not only do developers now have to pay Apple to create these extensions, but they have to code a regular app to then inject the app's features into Mail and/or Safari.

And then after all that work, they have to HOPE that Apple grants them the privilege of allowing it in the App Store because you can no longer just distribute a Mail or Safari extension freely on your own website the way you used to.

THEN you have to hope that people are actually willing to pay for the little extensions/add-on because, after all, Apple made it such a pain to create it that you're no longer willing to just give it away.
