Seems that it creates a sharable iCloud image lib every time I try to send more than 3 images with iMessage. Is there a workaround for this?

With previous iOS versions it was not an issue.

Not debating whether it is a good thing or bad thing, just want to see if anybody has figured out a way to work around this. Lots of family members use iMessage and want full res pix without the additional hassle of dealing with iCloud libraries. (took long enough to get 75+ grandparents to use smartphones).

Don't think a way around it. And might not be number of pictures, but size of pictures.

Gmail and Yahoo max out at 25MB total attachment(s) size. iCloud is 20MB. And from memory, pretty much every email service sticks to 20-25MB "standard", hence, a file drop type service to send big files.

Will try sending from messages instead of picture as per the link above.

My point is that it used to work in iOS 11 and then they changed it for iOS 12. I understand for a large number of pictures or video(s), but it is a pain if you want to send 6 or 8 pictures. People started using messaging more since it had a less restrictions on size compared to email, which makes sense as emails tend to be archived and searched (not so much with messaging).

I wish there was. Sending from Photos is no different. Three seems to be the limit and it’s so stupid that there’s no option for this. I’m forever team Apple, but sometimes they make some upsetting choices.

As mentioned above in the link to another thread, if you go to Messages and then select a number of photos it still sends them without creating an iCLoud library. Just tested on iOS 12.1 and works fine with 6 pictures.

I posted my message after I tried it, and it still creates a link for me with more than three photos. So it’s not the same for everyone.
