The keys for my on screen keyboard become unresponsive sporadically, especially in mail. I notice this more when power cable is connected and I am trying to use it while charging. Not all the time - but like it has a mind of its own. I'll be typing away and look up at screen and whole blocks of letters are missing. This is a 2019 model iPad Air, so I don't really want to invest in a new one. Still under Apple Care+ but Apple doesn't think there is a problem. I get standard response — restore to factory setup and replace all apps from store. But what about stuff that can't be restored from store like notes, app settings, etc.? So far I live with it, but it's frustrating.

Any ideas? Is this related to flaky OS software?

Seems to be a common problem with all iPads bigger than 9.7".
That certainly seems to be the pattern. My 2015 12.9" iPad Pro started exhibiting that symptom after 2 years. Intermittent and temporary "dead spots" when typing. This was across multiple versions of iOS.
