so we all heard of these invisible skins removing the lettering on the back of the phone.

is there a skin or something that can be put on the back to protect the finish?

my plan was to get a best skins ever skin to put on the back but now this is happening.

any solutions?

I don't have a skin, but I use an official apple case. The lettering started to rub off. But what I find is the lettering just becomes more matte black, which is very nice actually.

Why wouldn't one want lettering gone?

Because it has the potential to possibly hurt the resale value, depending how you sell it. One could easily misconstrued the missing print as a phony or knock-off iPhone. I personally would be skeptical in purchasing a used Jet Black iPhone with the missing wiriting. Sure, the missing writing might be more appealing, but its not worth the long term hassle in my Opinion.

Would Apple even address something such as this with the warranty?? I mean wouldn't the only option to fix it, if they did, be to replace device as they have no true way of fixing it on devices it's already happened to?

Good question. I would consider it a defect and one could make a potential case against the issue, even though it doesn't affect the performance of the iPhone. I doubt Apple will acknowledge it.

As far as resell is concerned mentioned above if they *did* replace it then the ESN wouldn't match box? Have seen some posters here fuss about that?

True about the ESN.

The other issue Apple could potentially raise, if they so choose, is blame the protective skin used on the iPhone from that manufacturer. Although, it's only affecting the Jet Black model, which would point back to Apple.

Someone posted alleging it did same to Their matte black. Not entirely positive of validity. I think jet black is main model people are trying to protect with skin so it's exclusivity can be pronounced lol.

Nope. No way. Not in a million years.

The lettering isn't coming off on its own; it's coming off when a user choose to apply a high-strength adhesive to the back of the phone and then remove it.

This isn't Apple's problem/issue.

ESN is available in Settings>General>About on the phone.

I removed the BSE off my matte black today and I saw the letting on the skin. Doesn't seem to affect the letters on the phone itself but I am now concerned enough that I won't be using these skins more.
