I bought an air tag yesterday and it paired with my phone (iPhone 11 pro max), but lost the pairing in a matter of seconds. Restarted the phone but "Find y" did not recognize the air tag. Reset the air tag and it paired for a few seconds then dropped the pairing.
Is this a defective air tag or is there a beta software problem? Thx in advance

The air tag shows up on my MBP running Monterey, so it appears to be a bug in iOS 16.

Update, if you're interested.
I took a multi-leg plane trip today, and put an air tag in my luggage. In the beta version of iOS16 the air tag does not appear on my list of devices, as I said before. It does appear on "Find My" on the MBP and uses the nickname I gave it when I first set it up with my iPhone.
But apparently this is a display issue, as it worked exactly as it should on my iPhone during travel. Received a notification that the tag was separated from me at the airport, and subsequent notifications that tracked it properly during my travels.
So it works as it is supposed to, it just doesn't appear on my device list. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

Since the 16 update my iPhone xs doesn't see any of my airbags but my MBA does see them all.
