Yes, it can but I think it will affect the batteries because iPad uses lots of power when its charging but iPhone and iPod charge much slower. So I suggest you charge it with their own chargers.

John Benitez is incorrect about the affect on the batteries as the chargers are "Smart" chargers and will use only that voltage and amperage that is needed to charge the unit. Therefore the iPod or iPhone will Not use the full voltage available from the iPad charger, but only what is needed. The problem the other way around is that the iPod or iPhone charger cannot put out enough juice to charge the iPad as quickly as the iPad charger can.

Can the iPhone or iPod charger charge the iPad? Yes, it can, I do it all the time. It just takes longer.

Ditto Tom G. There is no detrimental effect to the devices batteries if you interchange the chargers. Just a matter of whether it's getting the proper amount of juice/time frame.

I'm charging my iPhone with a (replacement, 3rd party) 10w iPad charger right now. It's around 50% faster than charging it from my computer, and I'm sure, quite safe.

It's also true that an iPhone charger can charge an iPad but it takes MUCH longer, like sometimes more than 12 hours.

Slightly off-topic, does anyone have a link for an Apple extension cord - the little corner-adapter from MacBooks and iOS devices, I bought a couple of those adapters from Hong Kong on eBay last year, but I'm wondering if anyone has a US supplier? Alternatively, I'd also love an Asian plug with extension - haven't seen that yet except for Asian-bought MacBooks.
