So my dad gets employee pricing on the iPad Air via employee pricing but it's still more expensive than going with a site that doesn't charge tax in my state. So I'm wondering if there is any benefit or reason I should buy directly from apple over the competition? Warranty extension or anything?

apple return policy is better and that's about it! If you want to save $20 just buy it from walmart.
I was hoping to do the same thing but it seems that only the apple store can do online orders on the ipad. I've seen apple do this before so I wasn't surprised.
