Is there any reason to choose Chrome over Safari as your iPhone browser?

I primarily use Chrome when on my home PC, Edge when on my work PC (no choice), and Safari on my iPhone. In the end, I guess I don't really care that much.

I played around with Chrome on iPhone a few months ago, mainly because I was bored and I also liked how the Chrome icon looked next to my Gmail icon. Now I'm actually used to Chrome like how the + button is right in the center to open a new tab. For some reason Safari does feel simpler and more elegant to use, not sure why, maybe it is the Apple fanboy in me.

Just curious if all the browsers use WebKit anyway, is there a reason why someone would choose Chrome on iPhone vs Safari?

All web browsers use the Apple WebKit engine (including safari) so they are all the same except for the interface.
The reason all browsers pretty much suck on iOS is because they are forced to use WebKit.

I always used Chrome but switched to Safari as I wanted a Favorites bar.

Your browsing history, bookmarks, and (maybe) your passwords would all be synced with desktop Chrome.

...and that's basically it, I think. 🤷‍♂️ Other third-party browsers on iOS would include features like adblock or VPN, but not Chrome.

One stand out is Brave Browser for watching YouTube. It blocks ALL the ads.

I use Vivaldi. Before that it was Opera. I try to avoid Safari as much as possible (I hate it!).

2. To many people, browser automatically means Chrome while search engine means Google, email means Gmail. So Google has a wide reach on their lives.

Yes and no.

Interface or skin may differ but so is what’s underneath. Some browsers have stricter and better privacy (cookies, JS, etc.) controls like SnowHaze, Brave, Orion and Firefox while some browsers like Chrome has weaker privacy protection like no third party cookie blocking.
