If you use programs that are not M1 optimized and you don’t want to change, sure. Also gaming, but we’re talking about MacBooks, so no one is actually going to buy one of those with the main intention of gaming.

I'm not sure about the benchmarks, but I would not be surprised if M1P can virtualize Windows, run a game, and still beat an Intel MBP.

There is currently no supported way to virtualize Windows, so emulation is required. The options for doing so aren’t great, and I doubt games would work very well.

The only two reasons I can come up with are if you need to run Bootcamp and software engineering.

I was able to pick up the discontinued 2020 10th Intel Core i5 13" 16GB 512GB model for $1000 brand new. I will only be using it for entertainment / streaming videos at night. I'm currently using a Windows machine and the fan is audible even without watching any videos. I'm wondering if I should wait for the 2022 Macbook Air or start using the 13". I still have it boxed so I can return it / sell it online.
Tbh, Ive been waiting for new mbp for a few years now and the latest has everything I wanted ports wise etc. However, its completely unaffordable for me so I will be going the intel route I think. Either that or leaving mac, which Id really rather not do.

If you can get it for cheap, sure go for it. It's not like the computer just stopped working. I'm installing a bunch of applications and importing to lightroom, the computer is absolutely silent.. insane.
Are you referring to the Intel model being silent?
