Can I just insert the DVD and watch the movie or must I do some configuration?

Mac OS X will start the DVD Player application automatically.
System Preferences > CD & DVDs

If not, it is located inside the Applications folder or you can use Spotlight to find it.

But know, that you can change the region of your internal DVD player only five (5) times, after the fifth change, it is locked in that region.

Also have a look at the following links to learn more about Mac OS X:

That can be bypassed with VLC

With every DVD drive and every DVD?

I have come upon some of these "change region" threads and never found a simple solution, that works with every DVD drive.

    Do you know the solution?

Now that I look it more closely, recent Macs have RPC-2 firmware in the SuperDrive and that cannot always be bypassed with VLC :(

The firmware can be flashed though, you just have to know the exact model of it linky

It's been like that for at least 4 years. If you can get the right firmware, it's not a problem. Most people won't care.

What does it mean to change the region of the internal DVD drive? Why do you need to it?
