I need a new iPhone in the short term and think about buying an iPhone 17.
I heard there were some problems with wifi and cellular in the beginning. Looks like there were also some bluetooth problems.
Are those problems solved, or are there still some (not economic) reasons against buying the iPhone 17?

Never heard of any of those problems being widespread. But any tech product has those problems occasionally, never had a device that didn't have a wifi, bluetooth or cellular problem at some point, often resolved by a restart...

Thanks for your input, i guess i will buy an iPhone17.
That should fit my requirements for the next years.
I have the 16pro and when comparing it to my mates 17 I always want to get one. The 17 comes with 256gb storage, pro-motion always on screen, a good boost in battery time, the new center stage camera and a few other things makes it a brilliant compromise.

I'd say go for it.

My wife still has issues with the cellular modem on her 17. I don’t have any issues on my 17 PM on the exact same carrier in the same locations, so likely related to the Apple modem. Seems most people don’t run into this issue, so I would guess it’s very based on your local cellular network

Usually you’d be advised against buying last years iPhone given how close we are to the Apple event next month…. However the standard iPhone 18 isn’t due to be released until next spring, so 6-7 months.
iPhone 17 is still a solid choice for a good while longer!

No. Upgrade when you need to. I upgraded when my phone can no longer operate a specific task. I don't care what part of the cycle I'm approaching. Most people are still getting by with 15, 14, and 13 model iPhone, no way a current model is going to be that bad.

Yes, a friend of mine had similar problems with the Apple modem when iP17 came out. That's why i was asking.
I hoped those problems were gone.

The 17 is probably the best value iPhone ever made having 95% parity with the Pro models for 60% of the price.

The regular base iPhone 17 does not have an Apple modem.
The only iPhones to have an Apple modem are the 16e, 17e and Air.
All of their other phones, including the 17, are using the same classic Qualcomm modems.
Sorry, i meant the N1 chip for wireless networks.

I guess if AI is a big reason SIRI AI then yah it's a pass. BUT if I am recommending my family to buy something I would still say 17 is a solid option.

I don't care which phones are newly released. I'm a millennial, and like my millennial mates, I buy only when my phone is dead.

There’s no technical reason especially since the non pro 18’s will come out alongside the 18e around February/March
