I don’t know of any, but I don’t think it is stupid either, would be a nice feature for visually impaired people.
 
Apple Maps does this well. Maybe you need to set to walking or transit directions when pulling up directions? Transit directions are my default and it has always worked well when walking. I have found that it fails to alert accurately in dense downtowns (Paris was the worst), but that seems to be an issue of the GPS losing sight of satellites more than an app problem.

It’s there. I use it every time I’m in DC since so much has changed in the 2 years since I’ve left.
 
As already mentioned Apple Maps will tap your wrist with a number of taps indicating right or left when in walking mode. You can start the navigation from the watch, or from an iPhone and it automatically syncs to the watch and starts tapping...
