One thing I loved on my iBook was with the Widgets, I had MacUpdate available to tell me when certain Widgets could updated. Natively in Mac OS X, I know of no easy way to update each Widget, no easy way to see which ones may need updating.

I wanted to see if anyone had a good solution to this. Widget management, or the lack thereof, is one of the only things I don't like about OS X.

(I should also add that I'm not interested in the MacUpdate Desktop paid service at all. (Reference post 5.))

Surely Widgets individually indicate if an update is available.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. I typically had many Widgets out of date which MacUpdate's Widgets (AppUpdate or WidgetUpdate) would pick up. Unfortunately, those are PowerPC-only Widgets that do not work at all under Lion.

Many of my Widgets are often behind on updates, so I don't bother updating any of them unless prompted; which is rare.

(I'm now equally curious why most of my questions constantly seem to be the difficult, unanswerable kind. :p)
