Specifically when working in the finder with an open folder.. I don't want to have to press COMMAND + DELETE every time I want to quickly delete a file..

This is a hassle..

Is there any way to "enable" the "delete" key on your keyboard to actually delete a file if you click on it? (without having to press COMMAND key as well)

That sounds like a really bad idea.

You could easily end up deleting things you don't intend to.

If you want to try it, then I would look in the keyboard settings: shortcuts, in System Preferences, to see if you can find the command in there. My guess is that you can't easily change that.

Cheers
