Hello there!

I wake up at different times, depending on if I'm going running in the morning, what season of the year it is (dark vs light early in the AM), whether or not I'm traveling for work, or any number of things. Thus, I typically use Siri for the alarm. "Hey Siri, wake me up at X:XX!"

Simple enough, right?

However, in iOS17, it appears that the default alarm with Siri alarms cannot be set. Rather, it defaults to the "Radial" sound. My wife hates this sound, and as I often wake up before her, this is becoming a sore subject in the household! Yes... I could just manually create an alarm in the clock app, but it's way slower than asking Siri and sometimes I mess up and forget toggle it on or something. All human error... I take credit for any alarm mistakes I've made, but for me, it's much easier with Siri.

Can others reproduce and confirm this is an issue? Is this a bug or is this intended behavior? If I'm missing a super obvious way to set the default tone, please let me know. THANK YOU!

Seems this bug has been around for a while. As far as I know the only thing you can do is ask Siri to turn on existing alarms (that you changed the sound on) instead of creating new ones.

You probably have a pile of alarms in the Clock app unless you're cleaning them up occasionally.

You could name your alarms to get Siri to turn them on as Paddle1 suggested. The 6:30 alarm could be the "Six Three Zero" alarm, the 6:45 the "Six Four Five" and so forth.
