Are you ruling out obvious solutions like DropBox, etc.?

Dropbox + Photosync (iOS, Android, PC, Mac)
    or Synology + Photosync (WebDAV)

On the same network all you need is Photosync.

Thanks Jessica this is best app ever to transfer files between iOS and android but you need to turn on personal hotspot in iOS and connect android to it or connect them in the same wifi network.
Also you can open transferred files from any installed apps.

    I'll buy mac version.

They're all free. It's just the ad-free version that is paid.

This would be A LOT easier if only iOS supported the transfer feature that you can use Bluetooth with on pretty much every other device.

I don't get folks who can spend hundreds of dollars on their smartphone & service but balk at a $4 app.
