Is there anything similar to Windows' ctrl-alt-del to get to task manager?

I used to play Rise of Nations on my old PC, recently switched to Mac and installed RoN Gold. When I was running it in Windows, I could have Skype, Winamp, etc.. opened and running in the background. When I needed to drop the line in Skype chat, I simply pressed Windows key which brought me straight back to Windows. RoN was running in the back and I could get back to it anytime. That does not seem to be the case with Mac version - I have to QUIT RoN in order to get back to Mac OS... (expose shortcut does not work)

If application for whatever reason disabled windows key - you could always open task manager (ctrl-alt-del) Is there anything similar on Mac?

    Thanks for help.
