I have 2 Mac pro's one an original 4.1 flashed to 5.1 with SMC 1.39F5 I have another Mac Pro 5.1 original 5.1 with SMC 1.39F11 I would like to be able to swap CPU trays but as they are the fans go crazy.

Is there anyway to flash SMC 1.39F5 to SMC 1.39F11

would be nicest to be able to swap CPU trays around.

Program the SMC is easy, no trouble here. The problem is that no one knows how to dump it.

So if we can dump the smc from a Mac 5.1 1.39F11 it could be flashed to a Mac 4.1, flashed to 5.1 with 1.39F5 I would really like that, wonder how its dumped then, would sure aid in tray swapping between 4.1 and 5.1 with out fans going crazy.

Ive flashed a few GFX cards but only with other peoples work, I can't say I understand it all really.

SMC is a micro controller with internal flash memory. It's been 8 years since 2010 release and no one got a dump from the micro controller yet, so, not much hope from this avenue of thought.

If Apple releases a SMC update for mid-2012, the only one still supported, we can flash 2009/2010 ones with easy.

P.S: We need TWO dumps. One for the tray and another for the logic board.

So we need some one with a Mac Pro 5.1 2012 who perhaps gets an SMC update with GM Mojave release. can the smc update be picked from the GM Mojave?

sound like a plan, lets hope they update the SMC aswell

If Apple release one, we can extract from whatever they release it. Btw, Apple never released SMC updates for MP4,1 or MP5,1.

They never released an update, ahhhhh then maybe one will never come, I guess there is no need to from apple perspective to do so.

we can only hope they do

If 5,1 users really are experiencing the "loud pcie" fan issue with the 560/580 under Mojave beta, then that is the only conceivable way I would think to get Apple to maybe release a SMC update (since SMC governs fan behavior).

I know 4,1>5,1 users have reported the issue, and have heard a couple of reports of actual 5,1 users saying it happens to them also, but hard to know for sure.

But if it happens to you and you're running the 560/580 and Mojave, might as well file a bug report with Apple.
