I got charged some roaming fees even though I didn’t use my phone while on travel. I had turned data roaming off, but is there no setting to turn off all roaming in iOS 11? Should I have turned off automatic carrier setting?

When you go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Roaming there should be an option for Voice Roaming there.

While you’re traveling, keep the phone on airplane mode to avoid unwanted charges.

I only see a toggle for Data, not for voice. I have iPhone X on Rogers in Canada? Could Rogers have removed this option?

That prevents you from using Bluetooth and WiFi.

False. You can turn them back on.

Also, the voice setting is where the data setting is.

You are right, I am pretty sure that Aiplane mode used to turn everything on. I tested it again and it kept WiFi and Bluetooth on.

I don’t have that second setting.

Hmm, that’s odd. Definitely use airplane mode then. I didn’t know carriers could alter those settings.

I don't know Rogers as a carrier but if they are a virtual carrier, ie they don't have their own infrastructure or gaps in their coverage then likely they need roaming on for their service to work - ie they may always be roaming (whether or not it is charged for is a different matter).

Might be carrier dependent.

As for airplane mode, you can separately enable or disable WiFi and/or Bluetooth with airplane mode enabled.

I don’t have that option either also with Rogers. Must just be an American thing, checked my wife’s on Koodo and she also doesn’t have that option.
