Is there tax on an iPhone pre-order from AT&T or Apple.com?

yes on sales tax! And here in california, you will get taxed the full amount of the phone ($649). So I will have to pay $50.30 (7.75% x $649.00) even though I'm getting the phone at a purchase price of $199 phone. 🙁

Yes, you'll be charged about ~7% sales tax, which I believe is our sales tax, doesn't matter if it is Apple or AT&T.

That completely sucks! And you get charged taxes on the cell phone service too, it's not like you are getting a freebie...

Yep it really sucks!😱 I was wondering why I got charged $61.87 tax for the 32GB phone. It's been a while since I bought my last iPhone so I forgot about that part.
