Is there way to have dark menu bar but not the entirety of dark mode?

I've been using the dark menu bar ever since Yosemite arrived. And now with Mojave, from what I can see, I can't keep using the dark menu bar only, I need to adopt to the full dark mode. I can't stand the full dark mode personally so is there a way use only the dark menu bar?

There are some reports of a Terminal defaults command that should achieve what you want:

defaults write -g NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance -bool YES
