this is listed as a quad-core on the website but isnt this an 8-core?

I think I just saw the posting. The refurbs have that sometimes, I don't believe that it is "missing" a processor or anything, just the title doesn't use the 8-core marketing ploy

Well, technically speaking it's not an 8-core, it's a dual quad-core. There's a difference.

That's what I was referring to in my "marketing" comment above. On the refurb page, Apple lists the higher-end MP has an 8-core.

That's the 8 Core. I picked one up about 2 weeks ago. Grab ram and HDD aftermarket and you're golden.
