Is this a bug?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but whenever I'm listening to the iPod and I go into Settings the music stops. Bug, or does Apple have it set this way?

I also noticed the ipod stops playing when i land on a video in my camera roll. I don't even have to push play.

iPod should continue playing of all iOS versions and all iPhone models. I'd try restoring to a new phone.
