    guys.

i posted a craigslist ad looking for someone to trade me their MBA for my macbook.

    my specs
    Black 13.3"
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
    160GB HDD
    2GB RAM
includes roughly 1000 days of applecare remaining

in exhange for a refurb RevA MBA
    1.6GHz
    80GB HD
    purchased Jan 15th, 2009
no applecare but i think id add it on if i made this deal.

id like to hear your thoughts on this trade as i'm about to meet up and make the exchange today. im a big fan of the MBA. I have a 24" iMac that i use daily. The laptop would not be a daily or regular usage computer.

If you don't need the HDD space, CPU grunt or ports, then it looks like a decent trade.

On the apple refurb page, the 1.6GHz MBA is around US$1k, and the 2.0GHz MB white is about US$850. Bring the HDD up from 120gb to 160gb, and the cost would be about on par. If anything, you might lose out on the cost of applecare, but if you get a machine which fits your needs better, then I reckon it's worth it.

In terms of value the trade seems fair. Be careful with the Rev A's though. I had 3 replacements, and the 3 model was repaired a number of times. Apple just agreed to replace it for me with a Rev B due to all the issues. Make sure you get Applecare.

One major issue is that the hinges are bad. Check that both are tight because people's have broken completely off.

Otherwise, I love the Air and it's a really amazingly designed computer. I also have an iMac which is my workhorse, so as long as you don't need space or speed, it's a great companion computer to bring around.

its hardware coverage because this mac was bought as part of an education lot from apple. the coverage is great but it doesnt include phone support....who cares? *shrug*

i dont need the ports or the drive space. im only really using about 80GB and this would be for browsing the internet, viewing office docs, itunes. nothing too extreme. ive just never really EXPERIENCED 1.6GHz

Seems like a very fair trade.

FYI, a few weeks ago I purchased a brand new leftover Rev.A 1.6/80 Macbook Air for $1099. The place I purchased from also was offering a brand new leftover Black Macbook with specs similar to yours for the same price, except I think their Black Macbook had a 250 GB hard drive.
