So I just got an 8 Plus. Previously had a 6S Plus, with a genuine Apple leather case in black.

I've just received from eBay what is supposed to be a new, genuine Apple 7 Plus case for my new 8 Plus.

It wasn't super-cheap but neither was it £50 - I have a feeling it may be a fake. Please see the below photos, genuine Apple iPhone 6S Plus case on the left, questionable 7 Plus case on the right in all photos...

I know they are different model-year cases and I may be being hyper-suspicious. My observations are:

Apple logo is indented on the 6S Plus and outline-etched on the 7 Plus
Micro-fibre internal lining doesn't 'fade' into the inside edges as well on the 7 Plus
The 6S Plus says 'natural leather' inside the case - the 7 Plus says 'material leather'
The photo on the front of the 7 Plus box is not great quality and is an off-centre sticker....

The 7 Plus case I bought off Amazon last week says 'Natural Leather' inside.
Thanks. Are the other points the same, ie is the Apple logo outlined or indented? Did it come boxed? If so was the photo printed onto the box or on a sticker..?

Fake. I'm staring at a 7 case right now and it doesn't have that outline Apple symbol, it has the normal one like every other phone.

That said, my "genuine" eBay SE leather case looks all normal, the box looked genuine too (no sticker) and it looks like a genuine one, but my previous Apple store bought 5S case lasted for 3 years and 5 different phones and still looked great until it was stolen, this replacement one is 6 months old and is in tatters

May be a rip off, but I'm sticking to either Apple Store leather cases or going naked from now on.

The logo is indented. The box is at home and I'm at work but I'm sure the image is printed on the box.

As I thought. Mines a dud. Have messaged the seller. Let’s see what he says...
[doublepost=1506601934][/doublepost]Seller responded. Will accept a return (how gracious) but insists it’s not fake.

Just realised the case I bought last week off eBay is fake. It has the apple logo outlined, not stamped. Just as well I wasn’t planning on using it long.

Sad that people are dishonest, even worse when they get caught and still insist they are telling the truth.

If you're in the UK, CEX is the best place to get cheap but official Apple cases. All the ones I've bought from there have been unused, some still in retail packaging and all 100% genuine. Prices always less than 50% retail. Only thing is you have to wait a few months after new cases get released before they start popping up on CEX, cause you gotta wait for people to start selling them off.

The iPhone 7 and 7+ cases fit the 8 and 8+ so they should already be available.

This is also true. I was more referring to new colours but there will definitely be iPhone 8 compatible cases available on there right now.

Same place i bought mine. I would send it back but then i would have nothing to put on my phone, as I'm waiting on my Best skins ever wrap arriving.

Up to you, obviously, but I'd send it back. Others have left feedback on eBay re the same thing and the ahem, durability. Can't stand con-artists. If it was a couple of quid I'd swallow it but this **** is deliberately passing them off as bargain-priced genuine Apple cases.

They do, but they fit tight. The 8 Plus cases actually fit nicer and aren't as tight on the phone.

I know because my two 7 Plus cases don't fit my 8 Plus as nice as my 8 Plus leather cases do.

contacted the seller today, the case is falling apart, cut out round the camera is shocking, buttons are squint, the cut out round the mute button is broken, been using it a week and its ready for the bin. good news is my best skins order should be here in a few days.
