    Well, the new MBP is 1399GBP. You'd be taking a slight hit in memory and processor power. But if I was presented this, for an extra $318USD, I'd splurge for the new one.

    Ask the seller for the Mac's serial number and enter it on this site: www.appleserialnumberinfo.com

    Find out if the specs are what they should be (or if hardware was changed) and even if someone reported it stolen on that site.

    That site gives where my iMac was made and when (March, 2008). But does not give any more info then that. No specs, nothing.

    Then your model has not been added yet, you can submit your serialnumber and help make that website better or try again at a later time.

    You can also post your serialnumber here and i can find the specs for you if you want.

    Sounds 'dangerous' i know but a serialnumber only holds manufacturing and model specs information, nothing personal what so ever :)
