my iPod charger recently started making an odd whining sound then stopped working. is this a legit product?

You're not actually buying it from AMAZON, you're buying it from an amazon.com merchant, which is actually a very different thing.

It's not "from" Amazon, it is from Eforcity Corp, Arcadia CA, who are advertising on Amazon.

To charge my iPod, I went to Fry's electronics and bought an unbranded USB port for $4. All it has is a wall plug, and a USB port on it, and it provides the standard voltage of an iPod charger, just doesn't say Apple or iPod on it 😀 So it was cheap, and works great! Seriously people, companies like to slap iPod on the product and raise the price tag.
