Afternoon all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place but I just wanted to ask your opinion on buying a new unopened 2016 rMB 256/1.1 for £949. I'm in two minds about picking this up now or whether the updated one is worth the extra £300.

Thoughts?

The gen 2 keyboard isn't even that good. It's just that the gen 1 keyboard was absolutely awful in my experience. It was a deal breaker. You'll need to try it for yourself at an Apple Store or another authorized retailer.

I'd say so! I recently purchased an open box 2016 1.1/256 for $900, and I'm in love with it. The keyboard did take a little getting used to, but it's not too bad at all!

I'd get the 2016 and save the dough. The keyboard on the 2017 is a little better, but not enough to justice the extra $$$, IMO.

Same. Great computer and any short-comings that people may complain about (one port, processing power, etc.) are easily overlooked when you can find one discounted to under $1000 . (not to mention you get 256 GB SSD, NOT 128 GB like the entry-level Pro and Air).

Yeah, I went for it. It's perfect for my use but I'm always very keen to have the newest and best, it's an expensive problem to have!

I have the 2016 and like the keyboard. Much more than the older ones on the MBP or Air. On the new MBP I do not see that much of an improvement. Haven't tried yet on the new MB.
But seems to be a very personal thing

I'd go for it at that price, it's a decent saving considering the 2017 offers little extra.
