My daughter and her husband are moving in with his mother. She has a PC and uses BellSouth for her ISP. I know they allow multiple accounts on her server but here is what I don't know. My daughter has a Mac that will be in her room at the other end of the house. How do I go about setting up the two different email accounts under the same ISP so that they are both password protected from each other? Can this be done?

How many email accounts are allowed under the plan? Each account can have its own password.

Better yet, how about getting your daughter a Gmail account? This way her email is independent of her mother-in-law's account and when they move to their own dwelling in the future, her email account can go with her. If the account is tied to the MIL's account, this would not be possible.

Just a thought.

I believe they are permitted six emails under that account.

Then all that should be required is to login in to the ISP through the main account and setup the other email accounts.

Again, when they move to a different location, that email account will be lost to your daughter as it belongs to the ISP and the main user, in this case the Mother-in-Law.

I'd highly recommend the Gmail route, as mentioned by TonyK. There is absolutely no reason to use an email service tied to a particular location and internet service provider. It also generally works far better than the Bellsouth accounts, with which I have helped many people troubleshoot issues that should never have come up.
