On a more serious note, Crucial is about the only company that's offering 1.35v 16GB DDR3 at a good price as far as I know.

But compared to the 16GB of Corsair RAM I have now (1.5v), there doesn't seem to be a difference, so probably 1.35v is not possible on my machine, or not supported at all with this generation of MBP (so RAM sticks default to 1.5v).

I'm going to give the Corsair kit a try; I can get it for $140 CAD, which is half the cost of the OWC kit ;) It's worth a shot, worst case scenario I return it with free return shipping

Can anyone post geekbench scores of their macbook pro's with the 16 gb RAM?
I'm interested in buying it but would like to know just how much of an increase in speed i'm getting ont the early 2011 Core i5 Macbook Pro.

In reference to this memory chips
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226301

I have had this 16GB of memory in my MBP for a month now. My MBP has been ran like I typically do for 15 to 16 hours a day all without a single problem. 10's of hours of video has been edited through it, in addition to web surfing, playing music, photoshop, Word, Excel, IM and FTP all without a hitch.

Since I do a ton of video editing on a 2011 MacBookPro, I have been following the price of these chips since it was seen on OWC at something like $1500 which was an insane price. I was thinking that I preferred the OWC 16GB chips just because it seems like that brand comes off as pretty well Mac tested. I guess these may work as well and it is all a marketing and hype between the brands. If the New Egg Corsair chips work just as well as the OWC ones, then I guess I just kept $350 in my pocket.

If there is sever damage being done to my MBP because I am using Corsair chips, can someone please detail with some tangible facts what that damage will be. Yet so far no one has been able to provide detailed facts on the harm...

As far as I know, Corsair is a good brand. If it works, and it says that it's running at the correct speed, then it's probably ok.

Agree. Mushkin is quite well known.

Please, this just shows your lack of knowledge.

Mushkin is a reputable brand, they have been around for nearly 20 years and highly regarded in performance computing.

It seems "well known" amounts to whether or not you have heard of them. Pretty low benchmark.
