Is this hard drive compatible with my mac?

    No link - but it's as long as it's USB then the answer is almost certainly yes.

    Edit : Wrongly assumed you were talking about an external, need more info.

    Yep, no problem. I take it you want to swap out the drive and put the old one in the enclosure?

    Exactly! And use the old one for time machine backups.

    Or, if you have enough space, make a clone backup with something like Carbon Copy Cloner. If not then use for TM.
