Seller does not have box so checking the box will not work.

Why does it matter?

I've yet to hear of anyone who has had an issue with Apple's refurb store (although I'm sure it exists).

"GB" is usually a serial number for a new unit. According to Apple and Chipmunk.nl it was produced in May of last year and warranty expires this May accordingly.
