Negative.

A 2008 is worth, maybe $400-500.

U can get a 2011 refurb directly from Apple $829 with full warranty.

You can get a refurb macbook air i5 on the apple store for $749. Why not buy that and get yourself a warranty? If you are looking at spending around $700, that makes the most sense to me.

The 2008 Air is not a very good computer. It was underpowered when it was new, and it's waaay underpowered now. I wouldn't even buy one for $400, I would put that money towards getting a newer computer. Like others said, you can get a practically-brand-new Mac in the $700-800 range

No, you can get a brand new base MBA (2012) for $1140 from Macmall.com shipped.

I don't care how well the person has taken care of it.

I would offer her no more than $300 for a 4+ year old laptop.

How big is the SSD?

----------

and i had one other question about another... i offered $600 they said they will think about it...

What year is that one? I would still say NO, just get a new one.

A lot of Apple people feel that since they paid a great deal of money 4 years ago for their MBA, it MUST be worth a LOT of money 4 years later.

Preposterous.

Just get a new one.

When I decided to get a MBA, I tested the water for a 1-2 year old model. It was hilarious that some weenies felt that their USED MBA is worth as much if not MORE than a brand new one that specd better!!!!! I laugh.

Those posters didn't say 11" or 13". The prices they quote are for an 11". An 11" 2011 refurb for $829 is still a much better deal than a 2008 13" for $700. The warranty alone and the ability to add Applecare make it even more so.

I too chime in that you should either go with a refurbed, or no later than past year's model. Save yourself the hassle of having to contend with a device that may well be on its last legs.

Yea, I wouldn't go older than 2011 - I would only take a 2010 model if it was 4GB/256GB and very, very cheap! $500 or so.

I'd get that for $600
