@Bigwaff appreciate teh response and am following that process.

That said, I am stuck at the "Finish Custom Domain Setup" step and am getting the below message:

Worth noting, I registered the domain name earlier today so will wait the 72 suggested hours but am open to other ideas / suggestions to get the working.

Thank you.

If you only just registered the domain today, give it some time, assuming you have everything set up correctly.

Check your domain here:

Select MX records from the dropdown; it will give you plenty of info to establish how it's resolved worldwide.

@LeeW , appreciate the response:

i) When I select A from the dropdown list I get green checkmarks everywhere.

ii) When I select MX from the dropdown list I get red "X" everywhere.

With the being my first time does this mean I should wait until the MX shows green checkmarks everywhere before trying again? And, if not, then what does it mean?

Thank you

So basically, that means your domain is resolving worldwide, or in simpler terms, the world can see your domain. If the A records are visible, there is no reason for the MX records not to be. Sounds like a setup issue. Mine looks like the attached.

@LeeW, appreciated.

My MX record looks like this:

Who do I contact to get this fixed, GoDaddy from whom I purchased the domain?

I don't use GoDaddy, but in their panel, you have to manually amend your DNS records with the ones provided by Apple. This may help.

@LeeW , awesome, I figure that out and now have my e-mail setup on the iOS.

How do I now use the e-mail address that I setup?

On your iPhone or whatever device, go into settings > mail > add account > iCloud

Follow the instructions from there, and it should add your chosen email address to the mail app, and off you go.

@LeeW , excellent, that worked.

How do I get the incoming and outgoing mail servers to setup the account on Outlook, my preferred e-mail client OR, perhaps the better question, is this even possible (or do I need to through an Apple device)?

As it happens, I had planned to use Outlook but never got around to it, so I kept the following notes. Not sure whether this is still valid.

1. in Outlook, go to Settings/Accounts, choose iCloud account, and then click Account settings

2. choose the option "manage profile" in account settings and then "email account."

3. select iCloud account, and click on change/edit

4. in the "email address" field enter the email with the custom domain from icloud; in the field "username" leave your standard icloud email address; and generate from appleid.apple.com a new app-specific password.

After clicking next and after Outlook verifies the server data, Outlook uses the custom domain to send and receive mail. Also, all emails sent to the standard iCloud email address are received.

I can't imagine it will be much different for anything else. The key is that you need to log in to Apple and get an application specific password.

@LeeW, appreciated. I am out at the minute but will try later.

The one difference is that I want to use Outlook for Windows as my client.

Will report back later tonight / tomorrow.

Thank you.

I tried adding my e-mail address on my iPhone as you suggested and it would be added!

I picked iCloud, I entered get email address I created with my domain, I entered my AppleID password as the password and it failed.

Anyone have any ideas?

I watched this video which is excellent and it shows that the custom domain should appear as an option when using Mail app, much like a hidden email account does.

It s not working for me (though the custom domain has been included in iMessage ad FaceTime).

I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple, they believe the problem is on their end as i) I can receive e-mails to the custom domain and ii) I cannot send from teh private domain (i.e., private domain does not appear in the dropdown box).

If sending/receiving email on the new domain email via a browser, does it work okay?
My thinking is, if it does not, then the issue is with the setup. Hence, my question...

@circatee appreciate the response.

I note that I can receive e-mails but cannot send e-mails because the custom domain name does not appear in the mail "from dropdown lists" (i.e., all it lists is my iCloud e-mail address and hide my e-mail). In speaking withe Apple, they believe that it is an engineering problem as others are experiencing the same problem.

Thank you.
