Resolved Is this new: Double Tap to select range?

    I just noticed that the text selection tool changes if you double tap and hold instead of just tapping once. It'll change shape and allow me to select a range of text starting from the word I originally tapped onto. (See screenshot.) Tried it in both Mail and Safari – Safari was a little bit more fickle about it than Mail; you had to wait until the magnifying glass appeared before tapping again.

    Is this new to iOS 5, or did I just never notice it before?

    I'm pretty sure it' done this since copy and paste came in with iOS 4.

    New feature is you can select a word and you can open a dictionary now selection shows up as Define..

    Thanks – so it's just me being ignorant about my phone's features. There goes my geek cred... :eek:

    don't worry people have "missed out" on far worse things myself included.

    It currently only seems to work for English, though. :( The interface is translated into German, but the option only shows up when selecting English words. I hope they'll add more languages in an update.
